MTD – Making Tax Digital for Income Tax
Making Tax Digital (MTD) for Income Tax is transforming the way self-employed individuals and landlords report their income to HMRC. From April 2026, if your qualifying income from self-employment and/or property is over £50,000, you'll be required to keep digital records and submit quarterly updates using compatible software. The threshold will reduce to over £30,000 from April 2027 and over £20,000 from April 2028, meaning many more businesses and landlords will be brought into the new reporting regime.
